Destruction or loss of forest by fire is fairly common; because trees are highly exposed to fire and once started it becomes difficult to control.
The sustained yield concept dictates that whenever timber is removed, either by block cutting or by selective cutting.
The existing forests should be protected. Apart from commercial cutting, unorganised grazing is also one of the reasons.
"When I started One Tree Planted in 2014, my goal was simple: make it easy for people to understand the importance of trees and make it even easier to get trees in the ground. I wanted to highlight the important work these planting organizations were doing, and get more businesses looking at tree planting as a way to give back."

"I would gladly do business with EPP again. Their products are excellent, their customer service is fantastic (thanks, Lisa!), and they are one of the most environmentally conscious companies I have ever come across."

“I did choose them again. The interaction with customer service makes it simple to get a product that is environmentally conscious. The certificate of planting provides a visual tool which opens dialog that allows us to communicate to students our commitment to both academics and the environment.”

One of the main reasons of deforestation is commercial felling of trees. According to an estimate, about 1,600 million cubic metres of wood have been used for various purposes in the world. Although trees are considered as perennial resource, when exploited on a very large scale, their revival cannot be possible.
As the Nature Conservancy reports, every year, millions of hectares of native forests are cleared for other land uses, including urban development, croplands, grazing lands and tree plantations. In the process, most of the organic carbon stored in the trees is lost to the atmosphere.
